Boiler Water Treatment

Aquatrol develops comprehensive water management programs to insure efficient and reliable operation of industrial, commercial, and institutional boilers. Treatment and consulting programs are available for all types of boilers from high pressure utility vessels to low pressure heating boilers.

To insure that steam and heat generation vessels perform at optimum efficiency and meet life expectancy goals, Aquatrol has developed an array of sound and reliable water treatment programs for all types of steam and hot water boilers. These programs are site specific and are crafted based on feedwater conditions, operating pressures, and regulatory (i.e. FDA) constraints.

In addition to the use and proper application of the prescribed water treatment additives, additional attention is directed to pretreatment equipment operation and condensate returns. Aquatrol provides support services including elution studies on softeners, dealkalizers, and demineralizers. These value-added services are designed to keep the pretreatment equipment operating as effectively and economically as possible.

Condensate return studies check the quality and quantity of condensate being returned to the steam plant. The high heat value of condensate makes getting as much condensate returned to the boiler plant a must. Aquatrol condensate surveys place a strong focus on optimizing the percent of condensate returned to the steam plant from the process.

Deposit control programs are crafted based on feedwater quality and include stand-alone all polymer, polymer-chelant, and polymer-phosphate. The choice as to what approach is best being dictated largely by the feedwater quality.

Aquatrol combines advanced treatment chemistries with comprehensive technical support to provide clients with a complete water management program. To see how Aquatrol can improve your steam plant operation, call today for a no-obligation survey.

Aquatrol Technologies’ product offerings have been crafted for all feedwater conditions and boiler operating pressures. Cooling Water Treatment

Cooling water systems are an integral and important component within industrial plants, commercial buildings and institutional settings. There are a several different types of cooling systems – all having a common purpose which is to cool appliances and processes to allow the equipment to operate effectively and efficiently.

Cooling Water Treatment Programs

Whether the type of cooling water system is once through, closed, or open recirculating, all require a sound water treatment program to insure reliability and efficiency. If not properly controlled, deposit build-up and corrosion can lead to unscheduled shutdowns, production losses, increased energy usage, and the high capital cost of equipment repair or replacement. Additionally, failure to maintain effective microbiological control can lead to operational problems and, of even greater concern, pose health risks to employees and the general public.

In the last decade, other cooling water utility considerations and concerns have grown in stature. These include the green movement and heightened environmental stewardship, as well as the requirement to reduce water usage and consumption.

Aquatrol Technologies develops site specific, comprehensive water management programs that insure reliability and optimum performance of the facility’s cooling water utilities. Advanced monitoring, feed, and control technologies are combined to allow our clients the ability to achieve the primary goal – that being predictable, efficient and cost-effective operation.

Aquatrol’s RTM (Real Time Monitoring) programs insure that the optimum chemical treatment residual is maintained, costly overfeed of treatment is avoided, and process efficiency is assured.

Aquatrol Technologies product line includes a broad range of formulations for both scaling and corrosive recirculating cooling waters, chilled and hot systems, and once-through processes. For microbiological control, a complete line of oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides are available. Supplemental dispersants and slime penetrants are also available for the control of fouling from oily contaminants, suspended solids, and biofilm.

Cooling Water System Products

RTM Technology

  • RTM (Real Time Monitoring) products are formulated to allow the treatment level to be monitored, recorded, and controlled continuously on a real-time basis. Waste Water Treatment

Significant volumes of waste water are generated daily with the two largest and most prevalent sources being domestic activities and industrial processes. The processes and chemical technology employed to treat waste water are dictated by the type of contaminants and the degree of removal required.

The general principle in wastewater treatment is to remove pollutants from the water by getting them either to settle or to float, and then removing this material. Some pollutants are easily removable. Others must be converted to a settleable form before they can be removed.

The actual treatment processes employed may vary from facility to facility but all use some or all of the steps listed below:

  • Primary Treatment
  • Seconday Treatment
  • Tertiary Tretment
  • Dewatering
  • Disinfection and effluent discharge

During each step, chemical treatment is administered to aid in the removal of the target contaminants. Typical protocol includes pH adjustment using acids or alkaline agents, addition of specialty precipitation aids, primary coagulants, and flocculants. Secondary treatment may include the use of aerobic or anaerobic bacteria processes to further treat the water. In some select cases, water requires additional solids removal referred to as tertiary treatment in order to meet discharge requirements. Solids or sludge generated are further treated using dewatering aids to remove water bound up in the solids. The dewatering step reduces the volume of sludge and the cost of its hauling and disposal. Aquatrol Technologies has a comprehensive line of treatments and knowledgeable consultants to address the wastewater treatment needs of all industrial and municipal facilities. Please visit the products page for more information on our wastewater treatment capabilities.

Green Chemistry

Green chemistry, also known as sustainable chemistry, is the design of chemical products and processes that reduce or eliminate the use or generation of hazardous substances. Green chemistry applies across the life cycle of a chemical product, including its design, manufacture, and use. It consists of chemicals and processes designed in a manner that minimizes or eliminates environmental harm. During manufacture, transport, use and disposal – each step involves waste reduction, employment of non-toxic components, reduced energy use and improved efficiency.

Green chemistry translates to an effective way to prevent pollution as these more environmentally sound scientific innovations are applied to real-world situations.

The 12 Principles of Green Chemistry, as defined by Paul Anastas and John Warner in Green Chemistry: Theory and Practice, provide a road map. Aquatrol Technologies is committed to these 12 Principles. Our Green Chemistry initiative is the platform from which Aquatrol product design scientists and engineers work. We are pleased to offer our clients an array of treatment technologies that promotes the selection and use of environmentally friendly chemicals, eliminates waste and minimizes energy consumption.
